This was a delightful, short, minimal engagement that took me two or three days to get through quickly. It’s nothing amazing and it doesn’t move mountains or change paradigms. Rather, it’s a character study of two (extended) families who come together – one from Wales and the other from England – after a couple’s hookup and marriage. It’s a light, fun and friendly watch. I wish there were more shows like this, where each of the characters has a kind, loving, communal heart and thinks about and expresses love for those in their lives despite their flaws. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s not contrived either. It’s a heartfelt slice of life and it’s wonderful. It’s not the laugh-a-minute slapstick comedy that British comedies often are. Rather, this is character driven. Highly recommended.
